Webinars introduce CollectionSpace

Technologists, faculty and others at UC Davis might wish to join a series of one-hour webinars to learn about CollectionSpace, an open-source software application that museums and similar collecting institutions can use to describe, manage and distribute information about their collections.
The first free webinar, CollectionSpace for Technology Service Providers and Developers, is Thursday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Two other webinars are also planned:
- CollectionSpace for Museum and Academic Technology Professionals, Oct. 29
- CollectionSpace for Museum and Cultural Heritage Professionals, Nov. 5
Anyone who is interested may register. Learn more or sign up here; no unusual software is required to view it. Recordings of the webinars will be available online.
CollectionSpace brings together various cultural and academic institutions with the common goal of developing and deploying an open-source, Web-based software application to describe, manage and disseminate museum collections information. Its design will allow connections with existing open-source applications, including those already used to manage archives and digital assets, create online exhibits, and conduct specialized research.
The project is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and led by the Museum of the Moving Image; University of California, Berkeley; University of Toronto; and the University of Cambridge.
