Get Sympa training on July 28; migrations should wrap up by Aug. 20
07/27/2010
Reminder: If you want to learn more about how to use Sympa, the new campus email list service, come to the free training session on Wednesday, July 28.
The session will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Mee room in the Memorial Union; organizers would appreciate an RSVP to ietrsvp@ucdavis.edu.
On July 20, the campus began automatically migrating campus email lists and archives to Sympa from the old service, Listproc. As of July 26, about 10 percent of the lists had moved. Information and Educational Technology moves about 250 lists each weekday afternoon, so the 4,900 lists still on Listproc should be migrated to Sympa by approximately Aug. 20.
IET is migrating the lists in alphabetical order.
Last week, IET compiled answers to the most common questions that email list owners are asking after their lists are migrated. The IT Express Computing Services Help Desk is fielding an average of one to two migration questions each weekday.
Read more about the migration here, and access the new service at lists.ucdavis.edu. Send requests for special handling of lists to sympa-migrations@ucdavis.edu, and if you need additional assistance, please contact IT Express at (530) 754-HELP (4357).
