IET brings out The Wheel, a new resource for faculty
11/19/2011
The Wheel is now open.
The Wheel, a blog produced by UC Davis instructor and educational technologist Andy Jones, debuted in late October as a new source of up-to-date information about educational technology and campus resources available to faculty.
The Wheel's posts to date include discussions from the also-new Faculty Users of SmartSite meetings, a brief look at educational technology in IET, and news about efforts to replace the standard personal response systems ("clickers") used in UC Davis classes.
Another post introduces the five people behind the blog: Jones, instructional designer Dan Comins, Steve Faith and Fernando Socorro of the Academic Technology Services faculty support team, and Mary Stewart, who is pursuing her PhD in education.
The blog divides posts into seven topics, ranging from social media and innovations in educational technology, to documents and briefings to help instructors use SmartSite.
Information and Educational Technology hired Jones, a continuing lecturer in the University Writing Program, as its associate academic director of Academic Technology Services in summer 2011. His goals include building stronger connections between IET and faculty.
Jones welcomes comments about The Wheel at aojones@ucdavis.edu.
