UC Davis: General Technology
Campus starts moving to new email list service
The major transition to Sympa has begun. As of June 22, all new campus email lists are being created with Sympa software; on July 19, the campus will begin automatically migrating campus email lists and archives to Sympa from the old service, Listproc.
Faculty, students and staff have used Listproc to manage more than 12,000 UC Davis mailing lists, but Listproc no longer meets campus standards. A project to replace it began in 2009, leading to the changes this summer.
Sympa basic training classes are scheduled on June 29 and July 28; each will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Mee room in the Memorial Union. The class is free, but please send an RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more details, please see the message that Information and Educational Technology sent on June 16 to all owners of existing lists.
